Tipperary<br \/>\nNo Archaeology<br \/>\nS23672288 to S39422189<br \/>\nSMR 083:022; 083:032; 084:0007; 084:009; 084:019; 085:008<br \/>\n15E0332<\/p>\n<p>Licence for Archaeological Monitoring of the River Suir Greenway was granted and works which commenced on 17<sup>th<\/sup> August 2015, remain on-going. This 22km riverbank works is designed to reinstate the north bank of the river to make it publicly accessible for the purpose of a cycle and pedestrian path. Provision was made between the National Monuments Services and Tipperary County Council for archaeological monitoring of tranches of the works. This comprised archaeological monitoring of six locations of potential impacts, in which the path traverses the constraints zones of six recorded monuments (listed above). A further thirteen <em>spot check<\/em> locations were identified for inspection during occurrences of ground works. While all are located at roughly regular intervals along the route of works, seven are also coincident with locations of built heritage (being small tributary stream stone bridges, possible 17<sup>th<\/sup>-18<sup>th<\/sup> century towpath locations, or tow path associated structures). The towpath structures have received build heritage recording and are not being impacted by the works.<\/p>\n<p>Ground works involves mechanical excavation of up to 2m wide strip paralleling the river and of 0.15 to 0.2m in depth. The principal element of the works to date has entailed preparatory works (in advance of ground works). To date, four locations have received archaeological monitoring.
